Week 9, Day 1

PTT: This was our weekend homework - did you do it?
1) Open the following document and make a COPY: Lab Document
2) Save that copy to your science folder in Google Drive
3) Rename the file so that it doesn't say "Copy of" at the beginning
4) Type in your name, the date, and the class period
5) Type in your procedure and data

Task 1:
1) Write these important notes onto p. 41:
Title: Lab Discussion
- We saw we had very little change in mass - we had pretty much the same mass before and after the reaction. This confirms what the Law of Conservation of Mass says - matter cannot be created or destroyed. If we didn't let anything out, then the mass should stay the same.
- We may have lost a fraction of a gram, possibly through the sides of the balloon

2) Organize your lab's conclusion to include each of the paragraphs by typing in the following sentence starters, each with a blank line between them.
I thought that...
I found that...
My data showed that...
I got these results because...
Insert important words here could have affected my results because...
If I were to do this experiment again, I would...
In the future, I would like to investigate...

Task 2:
Write your conclusion

Closure:
Self-assess your progress today - what do you still have left to do?

Homework:
1) Finish your lab report. It is due on Friday.
2) Start studying for the unit test (it is Wednesday for period 3, and Thursday for periods 5 and 6). The review is attached here:

Week 9, Day 2

PTT:
Complete the Core Races worksheet. Keep working until the music stops. Flip your paper over to use the support station on the back if you need help.

Task 1:
1) Save a copy of the following review packet if you haven't already.

You may complete the review on your laptop or using your science notebook

2) Complete review assignment

NOTE: I have attached a document about how to balance equations. While we do not need to be able to do that, if you read this for steps 1-5, that will help you with counting atoms and figuring out whether an equation follows the law of conservation of matter.

Closure:
Self-assess your current understanding of the review packet. What do you still need to review? What is a topic you are having trouble with?

Week 9, Day 3

PTT:
Spend 10 minutes reviewing for the test

Task 1:
Take test

Task 2:
If you finish the test with some time left, work on completing your lab report

Homework:
Conservation of Mass Lab Report due Friday

Week 9, Day 4

PTT:
1) Check PowerSchool to see your test grade
2) Look at your test to see what you did well on and what areas need improvement. I will need these back at the end of class because there is still a person who hasn't taken the test.
3) Complete the unit reflection paper.

Task 1:
We are now officially starting your Geology/Earth Science unit. Click here to go to the appropriate page.
