Week 13, Day 1


PTT:
1) Self-evaluate: how far along are you on your prezi? What do you have left to finish?

Task 1:
1) Finish prezi
2) Email prezi link to Ms. Davis

Task 2:
1) Talk to a classmate and have them send you the link to their prezi
2) Look over their prezi and leave a reflective comment on their presentation - what was good about it? what could be improved? etc.
3) Do this for at least 4 people and make sure that at least four people have done that for you.

Task 3:
If you're waiting for others to finish, get prepared for our next lesson by reading pages 156-167 (8.1 Cell Membrane and 8.2 Cells and Energy). Link: Reading Assignment

Closure:
Read over the comments that were left on your prezi. Is there anything you need to fix? Make any necessary corrections and email me if you have changed anything.

2) Title the page: Reading Assignment: Cell Membrane and Cell Energy
3) Record the date: W13, D2
4) Record the goal: Goal: I can explain what diffusion and osmosis are AND explain how cells get energy.

Task 1:
1) Go to the following link: Life Science Textbook
2) Go to chapter 8.
3) Read section 8.1: Cell Membrane
4) Answer the section review questions and complete the challenge - record all of this in your notebook on p. 132

Task 2:
1) Read section 8.2: Cell Energy
2) Answer the section review questions and complete the "solve it" - record all of this in your notebook on p. 132 (and 133 if needed)

Closure:
Look back at the goal. Have you achieved it? Can you explain diffusion and osmosis? Can you explain how cells get energy? Talk about this with a seat partner.



Week 13, Day 3


PTT:
1) Turn to page 134 in your science notebook
2) Title the page: Osmosis and Diffusion Lab
3) Write today's date: W13, D3
4) Record the goal: Goal: I can make observations about osmosis and diffusion.

Task 1:
1) Get an Osmosis and Diffusion Lab sheet off of the counter
2) Using the following word bank, complete the concept map on the front of the worksheet
Word Bank: high, low, high, low, not, osmosis, diffusion, active transport
3) Check with a partner

Task 2:
1) Go to the lab stations and make observations about each station in the description box
2) When done with your observations, return to your seat and work with a partner to complete the rest of the observation page

Task 3:
1) Turn to page 135
2) Draw a picture of what happens in each of these situations
a) When a cell is in a substance with a higher concentration of water
b) When a cell is in salt water
c) When a cell is in oil
d) When a cell is in a substance with the same concentration of water
