Week 15, Day 1

PTT:
1) Create a document in Google Drive
2) Title it: Biology Test Review
3) Put it in your science folder in Google Drive

Task 1: Review Assignment
1) Copy and paste everything below into the google doc
2) Read over the "Need to Know" section
3) Complete the review assignment questions - this is a graded assignment

Need to Know:
- 1) How to use a microscope
- 2) Parts of a microscope (and what they do)
- 3) Parts of a cell
- 4) Function of every part of the cell
- 5) Cell Membrane: 4 functions of the cell membrane (from the reading we did Monday 4/15)
- 6) Diffusion: what it is, how it works, examples
- 7) Osmosis: what it is, how it works, examples
- 8) Active Transport: what it is, how it works
- 9) Photosynthesis: what it is, what is the formula, where it happens, why it's important
- 10) DNA: what it is, what role it plays in determining how you look, genes (what they are), chromosomes (what they are)

Review Assignment:

3) Your friend wants to know how to use a microscope. If a microscope is already plugged in and turned on, explain to her how to choose a slide from the box and get to where it's focused under high power.

4) Now that your friend is done, explain to her ALL the steps to cleaning up and putting away the microscope.

5) Draw a plant cell. Label all of the parts.

6) Draw an animal cell. Label all of the parts.

7) Draw a t-chart. Write the cell organelles on the left. Then explain what each of them does on the right side.

8) Use a graphic organizer (your choice) to explain what diffusion, osmosis, and active transport are.

9) Photosynthesis is an incredibly important process. Why is it important?

10) What is the chemical formula for photosynthesis?

11) What is DNA and why is it important?

12) Explain the difference between DNA, genes, and chromosomes.

13) What role does DNA play in determining how you look?
